How does an infrared heater work
A heating system with unlimited possibilities
Technique of an infrared heaterThe technical principle of an infrared heating is equal to the physical principle of the sun. Bodies with a certain temperature range will emit electromagnetic radiation. By definition, the higher the temperature, the more intense the electromagnetic radiation will be.
To better understand what this electromagnetic radiation can mean, in just 180 minutes, the sun sends enough energy to Earth to meet its annual energy needs. In principle, the basic contraction of an infrared panel is easy to explain. The heart of an infrared panel is a heat source that is fed with electrical energy. It is important that the correct temperature is generated to bring the panel to the correct transmission frequency.
When the power supply is insufficient, the panel does not get warm enough and it does not have enough power to generate the desired carrier wave. When too much power is given, a lot of power will be lost. To send the generated power to the front of the panel, a thermal insulation will be installed at the back of the panel. This reduces the temperature at the back of the panel. If this is not done, the panel will lose much of its convection power. The differences in infrared panels are usually in the transmission techniques and emission factors. Each manufacturer has its own method that is applied here.
What power do you need to heat the roomThe power required of course depends on several factors. Factors such as the height of the room, the material of the outer walls, the thickness of the walls, the type of insulation and the nature of the windows have a decisive influence on the required heating capacity per square meter.
The golden rule remains that the better you insulate a house, the less power you need to heat this house. So it is always better to consult a specialist when calculating the power. We can give you some guidelines with which you can roughly estimate the required capital.
With a well-insulated house you can maintain about 65 Watt per M².
With a poorly insulated house you have to increase this to 90 Watt per M²
We advise you again to have this calculated by a specialist, but with this formula you still have a rough idea of what capacity your home will need.
Do you need extra heavy electric wires? An infrared panel has a power between 300 and 900 watts. This is power significantly less than a vacuum cleaner, hairdryer or even a coffee maker. It is therefore perfectly possible to connect your infrared heating to the existing circuit.
Extra heavy connections are not necessary for a domestic installation. The existing fuses are usually heavy enough. A standard fuse is usually 16 amps which equals 3680 Watt.
